Day 10 at Beccys place is all about the letter "I" for ICESKATING!
That letter brings back jet another childhood memory. So today will be a trip back to the old days!!
Picture from about 1935-1940 - Winter scenery picturing the house where I lived as a child.
My grandparents rented an apartment there in the late 1936. Seven families lived in that house, all of them with many children. Grandmother gave birth to 3 children there. My mother being the last one, and she was born in 1942. They were a family with 8 living children, and 2 that died very young.
Look, so few houses. At that time, it was " way out in the country"...
This picture was taken abt. 1950ish. The house with the 4 chimneys is where I was born in 962.
Every winter the meadow behind the train, was irrigated with water.
Children from all over, would come and ice-skate there.
This is the house today. Look at all the surrounding houses! Time changes everything. Now it is just a part of town.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful photos and memories of your childhood Conny, they are beautiful! Especially the little house in the snow. You must have spent many wonderful years playing there.
SvarSletI love the card you created, it looks like the two children are having a wonderful time skating together. The poinsettia embellishments are fabulous and I love the large die cut sentiment.
Cheers,
Beccy
